What the app stores

PawCount saves the information you type in so it can show you a total:

• Your dogs' names, colours and prices per walk
• Each dog's weekly walking schedule
• A record of each walk — the date, which dog, whether you confirmed or skipped it, what it cost, and any note you added to it
• Your preferences, such as currency, theme, and which day the billing period starts

All of this is written to the app's private storage on your iPhone, using Apple's SwiftData framework.

iCloud

If you are signed in to iCloud, PawCount keeps a copy of your dogs, their schedules and every walk in your account, so they are there on any iPhone signed in to the same Apple Account — the one you replace this phone with as much as a second one you use alongside it. The settings that change what a total comes to go with them: the currency, which day the billing period starts, what happens at weekends, whether scheduled walks are confirmed for you, and whether that applies to walks filled in for days before a dog was added. Two iPhones adding up the same walks have to agree about those, or they arrive at different figures.

The theme and which day the week starts on stay on the iPhone they are set on. They change how the app is drawn and nothing about a total, so each device keeps its own.

It uses Apple's CloudKit, and what is copied is stored in your account's private database — the part of iCloud that only you and the apps on your own devices can read.

We have no access to it. There is no server of ours involved, no account to create with us, and no copy kept anywhere we control. What is stored in your iCloud account is governed by Apple's privacy policy, and the storage it uses counts towards your own iCloud allowance.

It is optional. Signing out of iCloud, or turning PawCount off under Settings › your name › iCloud on your iPhone, stops the syncing; the app carries on working with the data on that device. Bear in mind that iOS replaces the app's data with the new account's if you sign in as somebody else.

What the app does not do

• It does not ask you to create an account or sign in.
• It does not collect names, email addresses or contact details.
• It does not use analytics, tracking or advertising.
• It contains no third-party SDKs or libraries, so no third party receives anything about you.
• It does not request your location, contacts, photos or camera.
• It does not show adverts.

Exporting a statement

PawCount can turn a billing period, or your whole record, into a statement — a PDF listing every walk, an image summarising the totals, or a spreadsheet with one row per walk. It is put together on your iPhone from the data already described above; it is not uploaded anywhere to produce it, and no one else sees it as a result of you creating it.

The finished file is written to a temporary folder on your device so it can be handed to iOS's share sheet. It goes no further unless you send it. If you do — by email, message, or by saving it to Files — where it ends up and who can read it is determined by the app you chose and that app's own terms, not by PawCount. Each new export replaces the last, and iOS clears the folder in the normal course of managing storage.

Sharing with third parties

None. Your information goes to your own iCloud account and nowhere else, so there is no third party receiving it and nothing to share. The one exception is entirely yours to make: a statement you export and send to someone, as described above.

If you install PawCount from the App Store or TestFlight, Apple may collect information about that download under Apple's own privacy policy, in the same way it does for any app. That is between you and Apple; we receive no personal information from it.

Keeping and deleting your data

Your data is kept on your device, and in your iCloud account if syncing is on, for as long as you keep the app. Because we never receive it, we cannot read, retrieve or delete it on your behalf — but you are always in full control of it:

• Take a copy out of the app from Settings › Export everything — every walk you have recorded, in one file. Because we never receive your data, that copy is the only one there will be, so it is worth taking before you change iCloud account or stop using the app.
• Delete an individual dog and its walk history from the Dogs tab.
• Delete the app from your iPhone to remove everything it has stored on that device. If syncing is on, deleting a dog or a walk removes it from your other devices too; what remains in iCloud is cleared from Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Account Storage.

There is no consent to withdraw, because no collection or processing of personal data takes place.

Children

PawCount is suitable for all ages and collects nothing from anybody, children included.

Changes to this policy

If the app ever changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised. Any change that introduced data collection would be described here before it shipped.
